Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid announced the nominations on January 23 during a live presentation on the Oscars’ YouTube channel. The feminist fantasy film “Poor Things” by Yorgos Lanthimos (currently in theaters) closely follows with 11 nominations, while Martin Scorsese’s three-and-a-half-hour epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” received 10 nominations. Other notable nominations include “Barbie” and “Maestro,” with eight and seven nominations respectively.
Interestingly, the English version of “Anatomie d’une Chute,” titled “Anatomy of a Fall,” did not receive a nomination in the International category. However, the film by Justine Triet is competing in the categories of Best Film, Best Actress (Sandra Huller), Best Director (Justine Triet), and Best Original Screenplay. It’s worth noting that this is all without Gerard Depardieu in the cast, which is quite surprising.
Correction: It is nominated in five categories, not four. We had missed Best Editing as well. Apologies. Furthermore, this allows another French film, “The Teachers’ Lounge” (La Salle des Profs), to be included in the International category. The complete list of nominations for the 2024 Oscars is below in its original language.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC in the United States and in over 200 other territories worldwide. Let’s hope there won’t be any slaps this year.
